We are excited to announce Jacinda Abdul-Mutakabbir PharmD, MPH who will be the guest speaker for our next 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 taking place on July 28, 2024.
Dr. Abdul-Mutakabbir is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of California San Diego in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, as well as in the Division of the Black Diaspora and African American Studies.
Her research focuses on antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, with a particular emphasis on identifying health disparities in infectious diseases. She has authored over 60 articles that explore racial and social vulnerability differences in infections such as Clostridium difficile and candidemia, among others.
Her contributions to public health have been recognized through awards such as the USPHS Outstanding Service Award in 2017 and the Society of Infectious Disease Gita Patel Best Practice Award in 2021. She serves on the CVSH Health Equity National Advisory Board and is an appointed member of several professional organizations including ASM, IDSA, and SHEA.
Recently, Dr. Abdul-Mutakabbir was honored with the 2023 IDSA Clinical Practice Innovation Award and appointed as an Editor of the Clinical Microbiology Reviews Journal in July 2024.
